Midnight FM is excited to continue its residency at TRANSMISSION DC on January 17, 2026. The residency is titled “Midnight Transmissions” and is intended to expand the minds of the DC underground scene by featuring top touring DJs with new talent from the DC area On the main floor, expect a boisterous expression of Black centered house and techno by an outspoken advocate, Shaun J. Wright. Upstairs, Midnight FM will be joined by Connectribe Co-Founder, ANNYA, who will help us explore the darker and more twisted sounds that complement our headliner downstairs.
Shaun J. Wright initially researched and developed their sound for house while it was an elemental force of nature in Chicago during the 80s and 90s. Their love for house garnered attention for them as a dancer and then vocalist, notably with Hercules and Love Affair. They toured the world and made incalculable connections in the house music world. Upon their return to Chicago, they collaborated in earnest with the likes of Derrick Carter and others who frequent the DJ factory known as Smart Bar.
Joining them downstairs will be two beloved locals, DJ Dubu and Kiva. DJ Dubu, or DOOOOBZ in some circles, plays a pivotal role in DC not just as a superior record selector, but also as a key figure in the local festival called Ecobeat. While nothing about Ecobeat will be publicly available, you can catch DJ Dubu behind the decks for an all too rare appearance. Kiva is quickly growing a name in DC as a vivacious and effervescent DJ, commanding audiences with his undulations as much as his energetic house selections. He will be the perfect table setter for a night of energy, dancing, and celebration.
Specifically, Midnight FM wants to celebrate the world that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. envisioned (like the awesome crowds we have had already) and then a chance for free expression during Mid Atlantic Leather or MAL weekend. With these two lofty reasons to party we want you all to be there with us! Midnight FM seeks to provide an all inclusive space for all races, national origins, sexual orientations, physical abilities, as well as gender identity and expressions- as it is important to us to curate a space that reflects the diversity of our crew and our dancefloor.
While all are welcome, please respect that Transmission is a queer owned and operated space. We have a zero tolerance policy for harassment, bullying, non-consensual touching or violence of any form. To accommodate those with visual sensitivities this will be a low light event with no flashing lights, no strobe lights, and no lasers. In order to respect each other’s privacy, no photos or videos are allowed to be taken on the dance floor. Stewards will be on site to help promote everyone’s safety and ensure we can all have an amazing time dancing together.
